Discussion Post: Critique of Microfinance
Microfinance is often cited as an essential tool for the successful encouragement of innovation and entrepreneurship in a number of emerging economies. The founder of the concept has even been awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his work in the field. But the tool has not been universally successful and is not without its critics. Write a paper that critically analyzes the successes and shortcomings of microfinance. Focus on examples of its successes and challenges and how it has been implemented differently across different cultures and cultural contexts. Is microfinance a universal "best practice" for encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship? How can it be reformed to increase its potential application? Finally, examine how the techniques associated can be applied in established economies to help drive innovation and entrepreneurship there. Your paper should be four to six pages in length.
The response should include a reference list. Using one-inch margins, Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space and APA style of writing and citations.
