Assignment Task: This is Aboriginal land with a long history that continues to echo in the present moment. You are to choose an outdoors area and a place walk. Look for what is 'speaking to you' what captures your attention, sparks your aesthetic. While walking on this old country-scape think about the idea of "past-present" and "place-thought" as ways of connecting to Aboriginal places.
- What do you notice? See? Hear? Feel?
- What do you feel drawn to on this walk, what catches your attention?
- What non-humans can you notice? What do you see them doing?
- How are you being called into "connection with place"?
- Collect one artefact and take a photo.
In small groups, you will present this artefact in a PowerPoint to a small group of students. Your presentation should be a maximum of seven minutes. This is a peer marked assignment.
The PowerPoint will include:
- A photo of the artefact
- What drew you to this artefact?
- How can you start to see connections to place through this artefact?
- How can you start to connect this to the concept of past-present?
