• Compare/contrast characters and characterization in Luumajuuq (2010) and Maggie Gilbert's version of the tale, "Blind Man and the Loon." Compare or contrast how the characters from the short story are reworked in the film. Among possible questions to consider: How is characterization in the film different from the oral narrative? How are the characters represented? What characteristics are highlighted in each version? Your analysis might consider how family, voice, disability, and/or gender are represented. You might also consider point of view, narration, genre, and other literary and filmic elements.
