Interview a special education teacher from one of the following grade levels: Grades 5-8, 9-10, or 11-12. Do not interview or interact with students. The purpose of your interview is to try and understand how brain abnormalities manifest as learning disabilities. In your interview, consider the following questions:
- How are learning disabilities diagnosed in your school?
- What are common brain abnormalities and learning disabilities you have encountered?
- What are common indicators of brain abnormalities and learning disabilities?
- Are you aware of any brain abnormalities that are curable? Are they treatable?
- What causes brain abnormalities?
Write a 250-500 word reflection and summary of your interview. Discuss what you learned and how your future practice as an educator might be influenced.
