1. African American Wives and Husbands, Then and Now-
Donna Franklin's article gives us a historical view of the marriage patterns of African American couples along with the patterns of equality or inequality between husbands and wives, compared with White American couples of the same eras. Please discuss how marriage patterns changed for African American couples from the the period following the Civil War into the 20th century, and why African American and White women differ in likelihood of marriage and in relationships with their husbands? Think about education, employment and gender ideology for this comparison.
