How and why do offred and serena joy enter into collusion

Problem

How and why do Offred and Serena Joy enter into "collusion"?

Offred and Serena Joy enter into a collusion because Offred is unable to get pregnant. Serene Joy wants a baby and is starting to believe that the Commander is sterile. She offers Offred if she would want to try "another man" (205). Then they decide not to tell the Commander. This is valuable to Serena Joy because all she wants is a child and it doesn't matter how she gets it. This is also valuable to Offred. She now has a bond and slightly more power with Serena Joy.
Why might it be argued that Offred is an unreliable narrator?

Offred is an unreliable narrator because she is having a hard time remembering the past. She often starts to remember an event and can't finish because she "[forgets] too much" (193). It can be argued that when it comes to current events she is reliable. However, she cannot be relied on to narrate her past and her memories. This is important in how we know certain characters. Luke and her mother are only explained through her memories. Moira is met briefly, but a majority of her backstory is also through Offred's memories.
