This 10-12 page paper is intended as an opportunity to reflect on the degree and nature of your integration of values, knowledge and skills in the field of addiction. This paper should reflect integration of material from readings, class discussion and presentations, and additional reading specific to your topic. Choose one topic from the following:
1. Treatment of a specific type of substance addiction (i.e., depressants; narcotics; stimulants)
2. Treatment of a specific type of behavioral addiction (i.e., eating disorders; sex; internet; workaholism)
3. Emergent models of addiction treatment (i.e., solution-focused and narrative therapy; DBT)
4. Addiction treatment with specific populations (i.e., youth; elders; native, immigrant and refugee communities
For your chosen topic, you must explain:
1. How an understanding of trauma informs the development of the interventions.
2. The neurobiological processes and behavioral consequences of the addiction.
3. The bio-psycho-social-spiritual impact of the addiction on individuals, families and society.
4. The cultural factors that affect assessment and intervention for the addiction.
5. The most current evidence-based practices for treatment of the addiction.
6. The legal and ethical issues inherent in the model of practice in the field of addiction. Include how your practice approach attends to laws on confidentiality, duty to warn and ethical issues, such as boundaries.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
