Assignment
Review essay: Select a biography of a Canadian who was active in the 1960s; write a review of it in the form of a Twitter essay (see this for an example and an introduction. In this example, Jeet Heer claims that he generally stops at 50 tweets; the limit for this assignment is 30. I don't actually want you to tweet this to me (although if you want to, you can pebryden), but want to get a hard copy of the points - no more than 30 lines, each with 140 or fewer characters.
Article: I didn't create the Twitter essay genre. I just made it popular by JEET HEER
The field is wide open in terms of characters whose biographies you can chose; I have lots of ideas, if you need some help deciding, but I don't want to limit your choices in any way. Perhaps you're interested in a poet (how about a biography of Irving Layton or Leonard Cohen, both associated in different ways with the 1960s?) or in an NHL player (Jean Béliveau, perhaps?) or in protest movements; I can help you decide on someone, and can help you find a biography.
When you write your review, remember that you're commenting on the book, not the person.
