How a person is treated and cared for as a patient

Assignment Task:

I believe culture and personal beliefs have a huge impact on how a person is treated and cared for as a patient. Patients are free to believe what they want to believe and free to make decisions about their health from their beliefs. There are a few religions that refuse important medical interventions, including blood transfusions, and although we may not see the reason to refuse, it is their right to autonomy. "The will of the patient is the ultimate boundary (inalienable and enduring) of the exercise of medical practice." (Bolcato et al., 2021, p. 1025.) Some important ways to ensure a patient's beliefs and values are incorporated into their care include realizing you have different beliefs and reflecting on your own bias. It is important to remember everyone is not the same, and we grow up differently in different environments. Our differences are what make life interesting. Never make assumptions, always ask the patient directly what they think or consent to. Withhold judgment, just because we may think the patient is "wrong" to do something or to withhold something, they are doing everything they believe is the best for themselves, and to them, that is the right thing to do. And always ask for alternative approaches. So the patient doesn't want a blood transfusion, what else could we do to help the patient? Attempting alternate care shows respect for the patient and their beliefs. Looking for Assignment Help? Looking for Assignment Help?
