Discussion: The Benefit of Aiming High
1. gGive an example of a business situation involving conduct that might be considered illegal -- potentially exposing the employee, the business, or both -- to civil liability or criminal penalties. Explain how a code of ethics might help employees aim for conduct that exceeds the minimum expectations of law and thereby avoid potential legal problems. Suggest wording for a provision in a code of ethics that would help guide an employee through the situation you described.
2. Consider the situation described by a classmate. Do you think the suggested code of ethics provision would be effective in helping an employee avoid engaging in illegal conduct? If your classmate did not suggest a code of ethics provision covering the situation, or if you think the code of ethics provision might be more effective if stated another way, suggest appropriate wording for the code of ethics provision.
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
