Either purchase, or otherwise obtain an inexpensive bubble making soluton. You can place a few drops of liquid dish washing detergent to a small bowl with enough water to make a reasonably fluid solution. Bend a piece of wire into a closed loop and leave a small length to use as a handle.
1. Dip theloop into the sollution to form a soap film in the loop. Reflect light from a desk lamp into the the soap film. Describe the the color patterns you see.
2. Hold the loop in a vertical plane. The describe the color bands that you see and estimate the width of each band. Explain why we get horizontal bands.
3. Try illuminating the film with a frosted incandescent light bulb and then with a fluorescent bulb. Record your observations and describe the differences you see.
4. Repeat steps 1 and 2 using sunlight. Describe your observations.
What conclusions can you draw based on your observations?
