History of restrictive airway disease


Problem: A 12-year-old boy, accompanied by his mother, presents to the emergency room (ER) with a history of restrictive airway disease and respiratory distress following a recent respiratory infection. Upon admission to the ER the client is alert and orientated × 3, reports chest tightness. Vital signs: temperature 37.1° C, heart rate = 120 beats per minute, respirations = 32 breaths per minute, blood pressure = 120/70 mmHg, and oxygen saturations = 84% on room air. Client is sitting upright on the stretcher and appears anxious.
