Problem: This 65-year-old patient has a history of CAD with unstable angina and hypertension. He is seen in the ER after prolonged chest pain that was not relieved by medication. Cardiac enzymes and EKG indicate a myocardial infarction. ER total points = 110. The patient is placed in observation and a left heart catheterization with coronary angiography and ventriculography is performed. No current blockage was found. He tolerated the procedure well. He was discharged in good condition the next morning.
