Assignment overview: For this assignment you must write a proposal, including an annotated bibliography, for an essay on a topic related in some way to the primary source you found in the archive.
NB: re-submit your primary source report along with this essay proposal
Parts of the assignment:
1. State a project title
2. State your main research question or hypothesis
3. In 1 paragraph introduce your general topic area and how and explain why you settled on your proposed question or hypothesis.
4. In 1-2 paragraphs explain - in as much detail as you can - your plan for doing your research: what primary sources will you look at? How will you use those sources? What kinds of secondary sources will you look at, why? (NB: if possible reference some of the specific sources listed in your bibliography below)
5. In 1 paragraph explain why you think this project is interesting or important, and how it may relate to broader themes or patterns.
6. An annotated bibliography with :
a. Three primary sources (including the original source used in assignment #1)
b. Four Secondary sources
c. For each entry, write 2-3 sentences which explain the basic perspective/content of the source and, given that perspective/content, how it could be useful in forming an answer to the proposed research question.
