HEROIN (DIACETYLMORPHINE OR DIAMORPHINE) -
- Heroin is a white, crystalline semi synthetic compound prepared from morphine by acetylation.
- Most dangerous opiate.
- It is 200 times stronger than opium.
- It may be orally taken, inhaled or injected.
- It induces drowsiness and lethargy.
- Its after effects include impaired digestion, decreased wt., reduced vision, sterility.
- It's often diluted with other harmful substances which may cause secondary illness.
- Withdrawal symptoms of heroin include vomiting, diarrhoea, shivering, running nose, muscular cramps & epilepsy.
