RESEARCH REPORT
Each student will have a LGA (local government area) selected for this research report. The LGA's were identified for each student at Lesson 1. Each student will have an LGA unique for their respective report, if in doubt please consult your lecturer.
KEY OUTCOMES:
A. Create an alternative land use zoning map and legend for your selected LGA (be sure not to replicate the existing LGA land use zoning map).
B. Support the configuration, layout and mix of land use zones in your alternate land use zoning map with a detailed written planning strategy.
For your selected LGA the research report is to include (but not be limited to) the following:
- Prepare an A3, coloured, template land use zoning map of your selected LGA.
o Please note that a hard copy of the map is to be submitted to your lecturer.
- Prepare an inclusive legend to accompany the land use zoning map to clearly identify the allocated
- The template land use zoning map must include a minimum of 8 zones, including but not limited to, residential, commercial, industrial and environmental zones. The zone types are to be sourced from the Standard Template - Local Environmental Plan.
- Identify a town centre within your LGA.
- Identify key infrastructure elements such as major roadways, railway lines, transport hubs, hospitals, schools, universities.
- Provide a written planning strategy (2000-3000 words) which identifies and supports your template land use zoning map layout.
Appropriate reasons and planning justification is to be detailed and explained within the planning strategy. Detail the basis for the selection of zonings, their location having regard to roads and transport infrastructure, and any significant geographical features or attributes such as waterways, flood prone areas, identified hazards and environmental considerations.
