Dwayne Discussion: Curandero/a Describe how the person (client) contracts the condition and is affected by it. Mal de ojo (the evil eye) this means the evil eye is caused by the evil or envious look of another person. The evil eye is envy or evil of a person is transferred to another person can be either purposely or unintentionally. Mal de ojo can affect children, babies, women, and men (Spector, R.E.,2013).

Describe the ritual used by the Curandero/a to cure the condition. The cure for the mal de ojo involves the practices of a curandero. A curandero is a traditional folk healer that use a raw egg to treat or cure this illness. By passing a raw egg over the person that affected by mal de ojo or this illness the negative energy or power with the evil eye possesses is assimilated. The next step is the egg is covered by a straw cross that is put underneath the person head while they slumber.

The next day the curandero examines the egg by cracking it to determine if his or her efforts were successful to the person that suffer from mal de ojo or illness (Cuellar I, 2000). From your perspective, would the Curandero's practice interfere with or compliment Western medicine practices? From my perspective the Curandero's practice wouldn't interfere with Western medicine practices because there are no medicine or prescribe drugs being use or taken to cure the person from mal de ojo (the evil eye).
