There were a number of factors that led to workers joining unions in the early 1900s. These factors included low wages, long hours, unsafe working conditions, discrimination, and a lack of power. Of these factors, I believe that low wages and unsafe working conditions were the most influential in motivating workers to join unions. Workers in the early 1900s faced these two pressing issues, and they affected their lives directly. The collective bargaining process enabled unions to address these issues, giving workers a stronger voice and improving their working conditions.
Workers' lives were improved by the labor movement in the early 1900s. Unions gained higher wages, shorter hours, and safer working conditions for their members through collective bargaining. As well as protecting workers' rights, such as the right to organize and strike, they also helped pass labor laws. Workers' rights continue to be protected by the labor movement.
Various events have taken place in labor history from the year 1700 to 2010. In labor history, the formation of unions and the Civil Rights movement are among the most notable events. These events impacted HR practices in the following ways:
Trade unions: They protect traders from wrong market practices. It also provides opportunities for traders to bargain for their rights.
Equal treatment of all employees was the result of the civil rights movement. This led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This right is considered in the formation of HR practices.
Question:
1) Have the issues of the 19th and 20th century changed for employees at places like Amazon and Starbucks who are attempting to unionize?
2) If the Civil Rights Act of 1964 solved the problem why was there a1991 law and why are there still so many cases filed?
