Conduct an analysis for a firm to determine
1. Has the firm achieved (or not achieved) and is it maintaining (or not maintaining) sustainable competitive advantage (SCA) in its industry, and
2. How does your company compete?
Company would be Mcdonalds and if they enjoy SCA and why
Recalling that Strategic Management is all about competition, the fundamental purpose of this assignment is to provide an opportunity to apply the theoretical concepts and frameworks discussed in class to a real company to determine IF they are competing effectively and HOW they are competing effectively. The assignment will require you to do independent research and use the data and information that you gather to conduct your analysis. Two sets of deliverables (as discussed in class)-your paper and your informal presentation will be submitted during or very close to the end of the semester. Your paper should include a complete list of references. POINT OF EMPHASIS: any form of plagiarism will result in a zero for the assignment.
The assignment will be conducted individually or in pairs (of your choosing).
Industry and Company Selection
Teams may select any industry and any firm within that industry. Publically traded Fortune 500 companies work well due to the availability of information. However, you may choose a smaller firm (including the firm where you work or where someone close to you works). If you choose to select a non-Fortune 500 company, I would like to have a conversation prior to committing to that decision.
I highly recommend that you choose an industry anda company that peaks your interest.
