Some organizations have a very systematic approach to making decisions, while others are a bit haphazard.
Identifying the problem and objectives followed by jumping to a solution is more a problem-solving approach than a decision-making process. The difference between the two is that creating, evaluating and selecting among a set of alternatives occurs in decision-making, but not in problem solving.
