DESIGN VISUALIZATION Skills Bootcamp Lab - Introduction to Photoshop
Project Outline:
There is high demand in our industry for graduates who are savvy with digital computer graphic skills. The foundational rendering program for environmental design studio problems is Adobe's Photoshop. It is included in the Adobe Creative Suite which also includes a few others programs you will learn in future semesters. Adobe's products have similar platforms so once you understand the foundation of one of the programs, transitioning to the others is relatively easy. The objective of this assignment is to build on the knowledge gained from your CAD projects and introduce you to the concept of digital rendering. We will now render "The Funtig Residence" Planting Plan studio project that you all created in AutoCAD with Adobe Photoshop.
You are expected to complete the following as a minimum:
Create pdf files from your AutoCAD drawing. You will need to think very carefully which layers should go on which pdf file to be rendered. Insert the pdfs into Photoshop as per the class demonstration;
Choose a colour combination which will provide you with 5 colours to inspire your plan rendering. You must think about inspiration for your colour palette and select the season you want to show your plan in - spring, summer, fall or winter and choose colours accordingly;
Utilize a few techniques shown in class to render your Planting Plan using the colours selected from Adobe's Colour Wheel; and,
Create a tiff drawing of your rendered Planting Plan.
