Goal
A goal is a statement of where the organization wants to be at a specified time in the future. The purpose of goals is to provide direction to the organization. The steps in goal setting process are:
- to scan the environment for opportunities and threats.
- to assess organizational strengths and weaknesses.
- to establish general organizational goals.
- to establish unit goals.
- to establish sub-unit goals.
- to monitor progress towards goal attainment and provide feedback as the cycle repeats.
This goal setting process takes place with the general and task environment of the organization.
