Give the applications of steel.
Steel: It contains iron with a small percentage of carbon added to this. Iron itself is not extremely strong but while carbon is added this assumes better properties. Mild steel contains 0.25 percent of carbon; medium steel contains 0.45 percent of carbon and high carbon steel about 0.70 percent of carbon and above it. The resistivity of steel is 8 to 9 times higher than copper.
Applications: In application there is galvanised steel is used in overhead telephone wires and also earth-wires. It's alloyed with chromium and aluminium is used in making starter rheostats wherein lightness combined robustness and good heat dissipation are significant.
