George Herbert Mead described the emergence of the self in three stages.
[a] LIST and DEFINE these stages according to G.H. Mead.
1-self emerges from social experience;
2-social experience is based on the exchange of symbols;
3- we develop the ability to 'take the role of the other', that is understand another's intentions by imagining their point of view from OUR past experience-from this we shape out interaction with them.
[b] GIVE A SPECIFIC EXAMPLE of the third stage. REMEMBER you must also be specific as to WHY and HOW this is the third stage.
