1- Acquiring and Motivating Team Members
Generally, project team members are employees from functional departments within the parent organization. They are "borrowed" to work on a project, which can create a strain on all parties. (They have two bosses.) The Project Manager has to negotiate with functional department managers for the personnel needed for a project.
In addition to assembling project teams, the Project Manager must also motivate them to successfully complete the project. Motivating team members can be challenging, especially if functional managers control the employees' pay and promotion opportunities.
2-Dealing with Crises
Since projects focus on producing a unique product or service, new obstacles continually arise. Crises frequently occur without warning, making it critical for the Project Manager to have good crisis management skills. The ability to cope with uncertainty and change is vital.
