Scenario #1: Jason, a student intern with the local Police Department, has been tasked by the Chief of Police to assist her in establishing a new recruiting process. The Chief is very aware of the public's concern over a lack of minority representation on the force. Here are the current figures for population and police:

• 20% Asian

Additionally, there are no females in the department
The Chief knows that the community college has just graduated a high number of criminal justice students with a diversity composition of:

The Chief wants Jason's views on how to progress with the recruitments and assure public sentiments that the police department will meet the needs of the community. Based on your textbook's discussion of the police and the public, as well as the police recruitment and selection, identify three major issues that Jason should present to the Chief. Harris from the University of Toledo College of Law. Read Professor Harris's report and his ?ve recommendations for ending racial pro?ling. Which of the ?ve recommendations do you agree with and why? Which do you disagree with and why? As a society, what ethical and moral obligations do we have to institute changes? What legal obligations do we have? Defend your position.
