Framing of Questionnaire:
Questionnaire is a schedule of questions which is sent to the respondents for filling in by them in their own handwriting together the information relating to investigation. In the words of Goode and hatt In general the word questionnaire refers to advice for securing answers to question by using a form which the respondent fills in himself .Hsian pao Yang definers it as the questionnaire provides the quickest and earliest method of gathering data from large and widely scattered group of people similarly schedule is a list of question which is carried by the investigator himself or by the enumerators appointed by him to the respondents to record the answers to the questions asked to them by enumerators.
Thus it is clear from the above definitions that questionnaire or schedule is the only media of communication between the investigator and the respondents. As such it should be designed and drafted with utmost care and caution so that all relevant and necessary information regarding investigation may be collected without any difficulty and vagueness.
Drafting of questionnaire is highly specialised job which requires great care skill wisdom, efficiency and experience. No hard and fast rules can be laid down for framing a questionnaire. The problems faced i9n designing or framing a questionnaire has been classified in four parts by rather kornhauser as below:
(1) Question contents,
(2) Form of response to the question
(3) Question wording
(4) Place of question in sequence.
The careful and wise decision of the aforesaid four problems will decide about the size chronology and the subject matter of questionnaire.
