Assignment task: Foundations of Youth and Family Ministry
Global Perspectives Interview
Interview a local ministry leader who is of a different ethnic or racial background than yourself to discuss the contextualization of ministry.
Prior to the interview, develop at least three questions that engage several of the following topics:
- Race
- Class
- Isolation and loneliness for minorities
- Family
- Conflict
- Trajectory of church community based upon their family of origin.
- Alignment of leadership race/class/gender to that of the congregation
After the interview, develop an essay consisting of three parts.
- In Part 1, discuss the questions you developed and why you chose them.
- In Part 2, discuss whom you chose to interview and the responses to the questions.
- In Part 3, conclude your paper with a discussion on what you learned and how you would apply this to your own youth and family ministry context.
