Problem 1:

Nostromo Ltd is specialized in electrical installation for space ships. This electrical installation process requires a certain amount of wiring and drilling. The wiring and drilling operations is similar on two of most popular models, the Weylan model and the Yutani model. Each Weylan model takes 3 hours of wiring and two hours of drilling. Each Yutani model takes two hours of wiring and 1 hour of drilling.

Throughout the next production period, 240 hours of wiring time is accessible and 140 hours of drilling time might be used. Each Weylan model yields a profit of 25 and each Yutani model yields a profit of 15.

Required:

Question 1: Formulate a mathematical model for problem above.

Question 2: Explain the following phrases:

(i) Slack Variable,

(ii) Surplus Variable,

(iii) Artificial Variable

Question 3: Generate the first iteration of tableau 1 to produce the second tableau
