Problem
• Your state needs new sources of electricity, and the local utility is considering either a coal- burning power plant or a nuclear plant. You live downwind of the proposed plant site. Decide which type of plant you would rather have and formulate an argument explaining why.
• Nuclear power advocates have claimed that more people died as a result of the Three Mile Island accident from the extra coal that had to be burned when the damaged reactor went offline than from nuclear effects of the accident. Do you agree? Formulate a wide-reaching and quantitative argument in support of your view.
