Research Project
If options 1 or 2 do not fit your situation, you can select a research project. Such a project should involve your research of a topic relating to strategic thinking/management in your field of professional interest. For example, you might want to evaluate the corporate strategies of one or more companies in your field of interest. This would involve:
- What is the company's strategy?
- Is the strategy working?
- What are the company's distinctive competencies? Weaknesses?
- How does the company measure up against its principal competitors?
- Are there threats or opportunities that the company should be monitoring?
- What changes are occurring in the industry that will impact future operations? Etc.).
- What recommendations would you make to management regarding its current strategy?
You may want to compare the strategies of several companies or focus an in-depth analysis of one company.
If you select this option, it will be your responsibility to select the industry/company(ies) that you want to study. I will be happy to offer suggestions, but it will be your job to select the company(ies) and specific research areas.
