Manufacturing and Product Development
There is good evidence to suggest that the depth of a bounce on a certain circular trampoline is linearly related to the stiffness of the springs around the edges, or spring constant k. A random sample of production trampolines was obtained and the spring constant of each was recorded (in lb/in). The bounce was measured (in feet) with a testing weight of 200 pounds released from a height of 2 feet. The data are given in the following table.
a. Find the estimated regression line.
b. Complete the ANOVA table (without the p value).
c. Find the coefficient of determination. Interpret this value.
d. Suppose the trampoline sits 4 feet above the ground. For what value of k can a 200-pound person expect to hit the ground?
