Problem: Choose a company of your choice. You do not have to give the company name if it is your company. Find out, or read about the company's policy in the Employee Handbook regarding such an issue. Find out the duration the company is reliable to hold its documents, as well as employees' personal files before destroying them. Find out, and read about the legal implications in regard to destroying company documents, especially personnel employee files. Basing on findings, employee has a legal right not to destroy such documents until all matters are settled between the employer and the employee. Employee files serve as evidence in legal matters and destroying them becomes a breach of the law. Refuse to destroy the files based on my legal rights under the company.
