1. Find a professional association within your field that you can join to utilize their resources.
2. Find one staffing/employment agency you could work with that places job seekers into temporary and permanent positions in your desired career field.
3. List five companies that are participating in the GMU University Career Services Spring Career Fair in February that you would be interested in talking to.
4. Search for a local job fair you can attend-outside of the university.
5. Find an online blogger who writes about your industry or a professional networking site you can join (other than LinkedIn).
6. Research one trade magazine you can subscribe to for up-to-date industry information.
7. List someone you can conduct an informational interview with and why they are a good lead.
8. Read the Washingtonian's Best Places to Work in Washington, DC article: "The Best Places to Work in Washington, DC" by Sherri Dalphonse. List three companies you find interesting and tell what the "perk" is you could enjoy if you worked there.
9. Visit three popular internet job sites and share an advantage and a disadvantage for each site.
10. Many successful people today don't think of their career as a ladder to climb, but a jungle gym to navigate. What does this mean?
