Evidence-Based Program Brochure
• Your task is to:
• Find a specific evidence-based program currently being utilized within a correctional facilityor with recently released inmates (e.g., drug treatment programs, educational programs, vocational or job training programs, etc.)
• Create an informative brochure that addresses the following:
Where is the program implemented? Federal or state level?
• Example: "Own Your Future" is an educational program available to parolees within the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Provide a website that gives information about your chosen program.
• Websites can either be a government department of corrections website or specific to the program itself
Example: Information about "Own Your Future" can be found at: https://secure.collegeincolorado.org/own_your_future/how_to_own_your_future/learn_more.aspx
What are the aims and goals of the program?
• Example: "Own Your Future" attempts to rehabilitate and reintegrate inmates into society by offering them educational and job opportunities. The goal is to reduce recidivism by giving ex-convicts the tools needed for success.
How does the program plan to accomplish these goals?
• Example: "Own Your Future" is a free online program that teaches parolees how to write a resume, receive their high school diploma, apply for college, find housing, create a budget, look for employment, etc. Parolees are able to find local community resources at the click of a button.
Find one outside evaluation. Report the results of the evaluation and cite correctly using APA format. This evaluation can be general in nature, not specific to your particular program.
• Example: "Own Your Future" is an education program for recently released inmates in the state of Colorado; however, any evaluation on similar programs can be used.
Include other relevant information at your discretion.
• This can include success/graduation rates, how long the program has been implemented, information taken from news articles (provide link), opinions from politicians/warden/inmates, etc.
- Brochures should NOT contain text only. Please include relevant graphics and make your assignment as close to a professional looking brochure as possible. You are not required to turn in a color-printed brochure. Black & white is acceptable.
- You may NOT use the example provided above. Your brochure should provide more information than what is contained in the provided example, "Own Your Future."
