FEATURES OF USER INTERFACE DESIGN
The features like how will the software's are used? Who will be the users? What will be the life of the software? During its lifetime how often will the software are used? These are several of the issues to be addressed by the software developer. The help related with the software on how to use it must be easy to learn and the software must achieve throughput. The Good design will make the user more efficient. The designer has to choose with its ease or effectiveness that matter. For illustration, the software meant to guide the visitors in a campus must aim for ease of use. If it is easy to use only visitors will use the software to locate the spots in the campus. Whereas some of the software require to be only effective. For illustration, if software is developed to distinguish enemy flights and friendly flights, it should be effective in identifying enemy flights. If it wrongly identifies the friendly flights like enemy flights the software fails. Therefore, the designer must choose depending on the requirement whether ease of use or effectiveness must be satisfied. The problems to be tackled during design are as shown below:
- What must be the form of the program?
- How will the user interact with the program?
- How can the program's function be most efficiently organized?
- How will the program establish itself to first time users?
- How can the program put an comprehensible and controllable face on technology?
- How can the program deal with the problems?
- How will the program help uncommon users become more expert?
- How can the program provide enough depth for expert users?
