Features of Amphibian Gastrulation
Major features of amphibian gastrulation are:
- Ectoderm surrounds the embryo by Epiboly.
- Gastrulation is initiated by a limited invagination of endodermal cells.
- Formation of archenteron is completed as a result of involution of endoderm.
- Gastrulation begins on the future dorsal surface of the embryo.
- Blastocoel is finally obliterated.
- Mesoderm and most endoderm are internalized by involution over dorsal, lateral and ventral lips of blastopore.
