FACSIMILE : This is often known as 'fax' and it represents the interface between reprographic and computer technology. By using fax, the contents of a sheet of paper (text or illustration) can be transmitted over a telephone line. A typical example of the use of this method would be to send a schedule to the various speakers for a conference and to receive a reply and finalise accordingly.
Locally, urgent documents can be faxed from one end of the country to the other in less time that it takes to walk to the nearest post box! Fax terminals are expensive, but if you do not have immediate access to one, there is bound to be a local fax agency.
