Problem
Explore the literature on human mate choice. Are the theories we've developed to explain mate choice in animals (e.g., good genes, sexy songs, genetic compatibility) supported in human studies? Use Google Scholar and try search terms like "human," "mate choice," "mate preference," "sexual selection," or "MHC."
One thing we learned throughout this section is that sex differences are often a result of sexual selection processes. Think about human sex differences (e.g., body size). Which sexual selection process, female mate choice or male-male competition, led to these differences? Or did these differences arise through natural selection? What does the literature suggest?
