Assignment Part 1: Crowd-funding (600-800 words)

Introduction: Kickstarter is a website that allows users to create projects in order to obtain crowd-funding for creative pursuits such as such as films, music, stage shows, comics, journalism, video games... and so on. Each project seeks monetary pledges from people. Most often projects are offered tangible rewards and one-of-a-kind experiences in exchange for their pledges.

Tasks - Your tasks is to use BigML and SPSS to

1. Explore the data. Find information that you think will be useful to Penny (and to other people who want to create similar crowd-funding projects).

2. Attempt to determine which (if any) what are the most important attributes of the project in terms of whether a project succeeds (meets the required funds)

3. List and present the most important attributes and justify why this is so (with the use of BigML and SPSS screen dumps and supporting explanation / discussion).

Suggestion: Save the Excel file as a CSV file before loading into BigML. This generally allows column headings to be used field names rather than 'field1', 'field2' ... You need run different models and choose the best one.

Assignment Part 2: Research Report on Crowd-funding Project (2000-2500 words)

In part 1, you run many different models for crowdfunding project. Please pick up only ONE model based on SPSS analysis and write a research report on it.

The structure of the research paper should include:

1. Introduction

Introduce the crowdfunding platform and the project objective based on your model.

2. Literature Review

Conduct literature review on prior crowdfunding research; identify the most important factors that influence crowdfunding projects based on previous research.

3. Hypotheses Development

Based on the literature review, build your hypotheses (i.e., 3-4 hypotheses).

4. Data Analysis

Using SPSS to conduct data analysis and to test your hypotheses

5. Discussion and Conclusion

Conclude your results and discuss your findings.
