• This week's assignment is the first submission in a series of assignments you will complete studying and assessing a publicly traded company of your choice. In the discussion question this week you choose a company. Be sure your instructor approved your choice.
• Once your company is approved, research your organization. In your paper discuss the background and history of your organization. Describe the industry in which they operate and key elements of the economy or current events impacting your organization. Identify the market they are traded on and describe the company's initial public offering.

• Obtain the annual package (financial statements) for the company you selected during Week 1. Look up (or calculate) key financial ratios and perform a brief analysis of the organization's performance.
• Be sure to include at least two ratios in each ratio category: liquidity, profitability, and solvency. Explain what each ratio means and what the ratio tells you about your organization's performance in the most recent period.

• Research your organization and assess whether or not the organization has outstanding bonds payable or has invested in bonds from another organization. Do you support their choice to use bonds for financing or investment purposes? Why or why not? What benefits and risks do bonds present versus other forms of financing?

• Using the annual financial statements and other research, explain the stock structure of the organization you have been studying. What elements comprise their capital structure? What is the history on your company's growth? Look up the beta for your stock. How does your stock compare to the market? Is it high, average, or low risk? Why? How do you feel about the risk level of your organization?
