This posting addresses one or more of the following questions:
a. Analyze time when you felt at odds with cultural norm or norms. Remember that norm is set of culturally ingrained principles of correct and incorrect behaviors. Cosider this in broadest sense. Examples would be your family background, your religion, your race/ethnicity, your size and appearance, your social class (either one you were born into or one you presently occupy), your age, your job, your choice of intimate partner, your politics, where you live (now or in the past), your cultural background, etc.
b. Explain a time when you perceived someone or some group as being outside or excluded from dominant culture.
c. Let when you have experienced yourself as being part of dominant culture. What situations or "rules" permitted you to be part of norm?
d. Can you conceive of time or situation in which there were ever any "advantages" of being placed in "cultural outsider" category? Describe.
