When it comes to reductions in force, it is very easy to get in the subjective area and that's when we get in trouble. I have been involved in some reductions where leaders do not want to get rid of employees with family and as such they start making subjective decisions. The problem we run when we start making decisions like these, is that then we are impacting folks that for one reason or another do not have families and as such are the ones impacted. This is where the lawsuits and the conciliations begin when we do not have objective criteria. I understand where you are coming from, but for purposes of fairness we should always use objective criteria. what are your thoughts around this subject of subjective vs. objective?
