What is humanities?
Begin with a definition of the term, "humanities," and provide a list of the different disciplines included in its study and define each of these disciplines. To find the "list," go to the introduction ofThe Creative Impulse: An Introduction to the Arts textbook, "Understanding the Arts," and read the section entitled "Getting Started," which starts with a description of Two-Dimensional Art. Then select one of those disciplines outlined and trace its development throughout history. Include distinct periods associated with the discipline, characteristics of those periods, and representative people and works from these eras. Conclude by stating why this discipline should be studied as a part of humanities and why this particular discipline interests you.
