One of the objectives will be to examine the accounting scandals in the past that have led to many of today's accounting regulations, explain the role of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act in today's accounting environment, and identify current accounting issues Post-SOX.
Read the article "Ethics Evolution in the Era of Sarbanes-Oxley" by Balog (2012). The author examines the changes in corporate governance with the approaching 10th anniversary of the U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. SOX Section 406 requires SEC registrants to report whether they have adopted a written code of ethics covering principal executives, CFOs, accountants, and controllers.
