Chemistry
Co(NH3)6]Cl3 can be synthesised from cobalt(II) chloride according to the following reaction:
2CoCl2⋅6H2O(s) + 2 NH4Cl(s) + 10 NH3(aq) + H2O2(aq) + 3 H2O(l) 2 [Co(NH3)6]Cl3(s) + ½ O2(g)
Explain the role of the charcoal and of each of the reagents and discuss why cobalt(III) chloride is not used as the starting material.
