Street gangs are present in every city in the United States, but six large cities have been given the distinction as being the most gang ridden cities in the country. They are:
Los Angeles, California Chicago, Illinois
East St. Louis, Illinois
Camden, New Jersey
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Detroit, Michigan.
Each of these cities are home to numerous and problematic street gangs. I want you to pick out a city of your choice from the above list, research a street gang active in the city you choose and write a 4-5 page paper on the street gang you choose from that city.
This short research paper should include gang history, how they were developed and grew, the symbols used as identifiers and their significance to the gang, the criminal activity engaged in, any non-criminal community activity that may assist in positive perception if that info is available and any law enforcement tactics used against the gang.
