Explain the Conventional Incineration and Refuse-Derived Fuel Facilities?
1. Conventional (Mass-Fired) Incineration
- most common form of municipal solid waste (MSW) incineration
- can accept refuse that has little pre-treatment other than the removal of oversized items (i.e. kitchen stoves, mattresses)
2. Refuse-Derived Fuel Facilities
- combustible portion of solid waste that's been separated from non-combustible portion through various processes (i.e. shredding, screening, air classifying)
