The cardiovascular system is an elegant example that structure fits function. For example, the left ventricle is the thickest chamber to pump the required amount of blood to the whole body. The aorta is elastic and muscular to sustain the high pressure coming out of the ventricle during systole. Changes to these structures can affect other organs and systems in the body.
