Explain role of physiotherapist in developing exercise

Problem: Jacob is working as an Aged Care Support Worker and visits Alma, an 88 year old lady, weekly to provide respite and to take her for a walk. Jacob has built a trusting relationship with both Alma and her daughter Helen (who is her full-time carer). During today's walk Jacob noticed that Alma is becoming unsteady on her feet and she struggled to make it to the shops. On the way home Alma had to stop to rest five times. On their arrival back to Alma's house Jacob suggests to Alma and Helen that an assessment is organised on Alma's mobility and risk of falls. Alma becomes upset and anxious at this suggestion as she is worried that with the decline in her mobility she may not be able to go for her weekly walk with Jacob. Jacob sits and takes the time to talk to Alma and Helen about this. He explains the assessment process and his duty of care responsibilities, including, providing the best care possible for Alma and the importance of minimizing the risk of Alma having a fall. Jacob uses easy to understand language, to explain the role of a Physiotherapist in developing a suitable exercise
